@ Full Potential

K and I were exploring a path at a local church that said "To Woodland Chapel."

As we walked down the mulch trail, bordered by small logs, K noted that the project was courtesy of an eagle scout troop.

K asked what an eagle scout troop was and I said they were boy scouts.

"Boy Scouts at their full potential?,"she asked.

Um, yeah, "Boy Scouts at their full potential," I agreed. Where does she come up with this stuff at six?

Geofinity and Beyond!

K started her first 'college' class today - it's called Geofinity: Geometry in Space. It's part of a cool enrichment program at UC called The Super Saturday Program.

K's teacher was getting organized and writing out objectives, one of which was 'measure angles.' I heard K exclaim with delighted surprise, "We're gonna measure ANGELS?! How are we gonna do that?"

Maybe it's a little early for college... ; )!

If you're trying to teach me something...

K and I were riding in the car the other day, on the way to her rehearsal. She'd negotiated to bring her iPod and was playing UNO.

"If it looks like I'm not gonna win, I just start over," she said.
"If you can't lose, you can't win," I said.
"Yes you can," she insisted, continuing, "I get bonus prizes and points when I win."
I said, "Yeah, but winning is defined in opposition to losing, so if you can't lose, you really aren't winning. It's like how you can't have a left without a right."
"Sure you can," she said. If my right hand wasn't there, I could still have a left."
"Yeah," I said, but it wouldn't be left of anything if there were no right."
"Mom," she said,"... If you're trying to teach me something, it's just not working."

:)!
