News from Lake Whoa-begone!

Today, K and I were taking a walk around Landen Lake, not far from where we live. I like to go there because I can put K in the backpack and walk Harvey on the leash, and the 4 miles of carrying an extra 38 lbs gives me a good workout AND lets me chat with my favorite little person. I try to choose only days with agreeable weather, but we've been there a few times and suffered some wind chill.

Today, heading into the home stretch, we neared the tennis courts. Viering around to the right usually gets you a nice stiff breeze, but you can take a short cut, to the left, and avoid the exposure of the lake.

Kirienne said, preemptively, "Mommy, I want to go to the left because going to the right is TOO windy!" I couldn't believe she not only processed that but did so ahead of time enough to make sure she'd logged her request before we got there! I told her to look at the trees and notice how still they were -- an indication that it wouldn't be windy this time, and we should go right to forego the shortcut. No sooner had we started to venture around the courts than we felt the breeze! Thankfully, it wasn't long-lived or too cold, but, had she thought to do so, K certainly could have told me she'd TOLD me so!! :)
