Ending 2010 with a Bang!

This was a banner week in the land of Kirienne Quips. Today was the absolute capper, with three total zingers, but the lead up this week has been full of strong contenders.

The other day, we were all sitting around, watching TV. I don't recall what prompted the question - especially because I don't remember any discussion about pregnancy or childbirth. So, it was all that much more surprising when K said, somewhat coyly...

"Mommy, this is, well, a rather strange question coming from me, but..."
I braced myself...
"Under what circumstance would someone need to have, y'know, that kind of surgery [indicating cesarean section]?"
We all looked at each other somewhere between amused and astonished. Where does she get this stuff?

Tonight, I took her to the Zoo for the Festival of Lights, but I wanted it to be a surprise. She asked me:
"Mommy, is this a new place or somewhere I've been?"
I told her it wasn't new.

She responded, slowly, basically to herself,
"Well... there's a... piece... of... information..."
While we were at the Festival of Lights, we walked through the "Candycane Forest." After a few minutes there, she said:

"So, I see... that the Candycane Forest is really not a forest at all. It's just a shortcut from here to the end."

Finally, we were making our last stops and preparing to leave. She decided she really wanted to call Brien. She'd intended (for whatever reason, all her own) to say "Dude, where are you at?" But once Brien had answered, she modified her approach, still adding a good smattering of "Dudes" to her phrases. Finally, she said:

"Well roast up the hot cocoa, Big Daddy, 'cause we're comin' home!"

Happy New Year to All, and to All a Good Night (Dude!)!
