Tonight we went out for our weekly "Date Night with Daughter" dinner, and, on the way home, of course we were compelled to listen to K's choice in music (under severe penalties of tears and Boo Hoos if we didn't oblige). We began with her usual favorite -- Smashmouth's Astrolounge album. We were listening to "I Just Wann See," and K was singing about 85% of the lyrics -- right on key and in rhythm, I might add! She finished a verse and said, "I'm an awesome singer!" Of course, we agreed!
She's quick to correct us -- or at least to point out -- when we're not singing the right words: "You don't know the words, Daddy!" And sometimes she'll fill us in with the lyrics (her interpretation of them, anyway). Tonight, she asked Brien to sing along with her, but he confessed to being lyrically-challenged. K voiced her support and affirmation: "You're an awesome singer, Dad!"
We stopped at UDF for ice cream before heading home. Once back in the car, K proceeded to list about 7 songs from The Proclaimer's Sunshine On Leith album -- "There's Captain Hand (Cap In Hand), Sunshine on Leith, 500 Miles, Then I Met You, Jeans (actually Jean). I couldn't believe that she actually could associate all the songs of one artist with the concept of an album AND rattle them off from memory. Wow!! We just shake our heads in marvelous marvelment! :)!!!
