OK, 3 postings in one day - it's a little much...
But if I wait to just write these, by pen, they will never get recorded!!
Tonight, we were putting her to bed... just moments ago, actually. We've been reading books at night that have many chapters, so all of us are interested to read each new installment. We just finished Hans Brinker and the Silver Skates, and we've already completed and restarted Anne of Green Gables. Another one she likes is the Josefina series from the American Girls collection.
Our most recent addition has been a book B got her for Christmas called The Invention of Hugo Cabret. This 500+ page book is half illustrations and has rather short chapters, but the subject matter is compelling AND somehow as accessible for a 3-year-old as it is for us 30+-year-olds -- so much so that I have been eagerly awaiting reading the next chapter. We've had several days off from Hugo as K mixed it up a bit by interspersing some shorter reading material in the midst of "our" story.
So, tonight, as she was preparing for bed, B said, "OK, so, tonight we're going to read Hugo, right?" K said, "Nah, I want to read We're Going On a Caravan [a book about the Silk Road in China] instead." B reminded her, "Well, yesterday you told us 'Tomorrow, we'll read Hugo,' and I think Mommy really wants to hear Hugo. She said, "No, I said we would tomorrow." I said, "Well, today is yesterday's tomorrow," to which she said, "Huh?" So, I said, "Yesterday, you said we'd read Hugo today..." To which she responded, "Well... I guess I made a bad choice."
HAHAHA! What a trip!
