Quick, Quintessential K

Well, it's summer in Ohio again, and the heat we've got is mocking us and making up for all the heat we didn't have during the Springtime, which was WAY too brief for my liking.

After a 10-hour spate of recurring thunderstorms that were threatening to cause tornados in our area, I was sitting on the couch, struggling to stay awake. Between managing the creatures and bolting awake every time a tornado siren went off, I'd only slept a couple of hours. I said, "Baby, I'm so tired!" She came over and gave me a GIGANTIC hug and kiss that lasted about a minute! I said, "WOW! You must not have any energy left after giving all that to me!" Without a word, she hopped off the couch, ran into the kitchen, ran back to the living room and then repeated her sprint again. "See, Mom!" she proclaimed. "I still have plenty of energy! I get it from the floor!"

Tonight, during dinner, K was singing the song she composed, which she's also been playing on the piano and on her little electronic mini-keyboard that's attached to a small book of nursery rhymes. She sang, "1 2 3, 3 2 1, 4 5 6, 6 5 4, 7 8 9, 9 8 7, 10 11 12, 12 11 10" with their corresponding ascending and descending notes. It was pretty darned impressive! I could see her imagining the notes and their numeric equivalents in her mind as she sang. I said to B, "We need to get her into a music class!" "Yeah," K said. "All the kids will sit quietly, and I will sing!"
