OK, I'm sure every parent thinks this -- if not saying so -- and, this isn't to say they're wrong, BUT there is the chance, at least, that my daughter IS the funniest and smartest human being on the planet. Yeah, I think it's possible.
So, I gladly donate my time as her transcriptionist until she ascends into the spotlight she will one day claim, as a skydiver, stand-up comedienne, genome mapper or rugby player.
Today, while out shopping by myself (I can count on appendages how often this has happened in the past 3 years), luck was on my side at Old Navy. There I found the last remaining pair of the cutest winter boots I've ever seen - like little girls' Sorrells, but in red sateen with little tone-on-tone heart embroidery over the fabric surface. Come on now, where can I get a job making things like THAT!? Oh, and did I mention they were like $5. Yeah, it's all good, baby.
So, I brought them home and asked K to try them on, which she obliged, reluctantly. They're for next year, so I wanted to see about the sizing. She said, "Mommy, I really don't want to try on the Santa boots." Santa boots!? How could she think they were SANTA boots. Well, ok, they do look kind of holiday festive, but those are HEARTS on the side, not holly berries.
Anyway, she was a good sport, and I removed them quickly after checking the size. As I carried them up to her room, as we headed to bed, I said, "Girl, I can't believe you're not crazy about these boots. If they were mine, I'd be stoked!" She said, "Yeah, Mommy! You could wear them. Then everyone would say, 'Oh, look how cute she is in her Santa boots!'"
;)! She cracks me up!
